Abingdon Wine Estate
Located in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, a unique pioneering estate which has positioned itself as a serious single vineyard boutique wine producer in the geographical unit of KZN. The farm was bought in 2000 by owners and winemakers, Ian & Jane Smorthwaite, and the first vines were planted in 2004. Situated at 1140m above sea level, the Estate has 3ha under vine and produces certified single vineyard Estate wines from 100% KZN grapes.

Tasting Room, Restaurant & Wine Sales
Abingdon Wine Estate opened their very popular tasting room and restaurant overlooking the vineyard in August 2009. It is open Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays from 10am - 5 pm for tastings and deliciously fresh lunches. Last lunch orders are at 2.30 pm.
Tastings are run throughout the day between 10am-4pm. Join father and daughter team, Ian and Laurie, at the tasting bar for a personalised introduction to our wines. Tastings are R15 per wine with up to 6 wines available. Booking is not necessary for tastings, but please note the tasting bar can get very busy between 12 noon and 1 pm with arriving lunch guests.
Lunch is served overlooking the vineyard on beautiful sunny days, or inside in front of our three roaring fireplaces on cold Midlands days. The menu is a la carte, but the set Harvest menu is highly recommended for a complete Abingdon experience.
Booking for lunch in the restaurant is essential as seat numbers are limited and we get booked up very quickly in advance. We also cater for corporate functions and weddings. Regret no children under 12 unless by prior arrangement.

Wine sales on weekdays by prior arrangement only - we will try our best to accommodate any weekday requests, however, as we are a small family run vineyard, we regret that we cannot open for lunches or tastings from Monday to Thursday if we are busy in the vineyard and cellar.
