Wine

The cultivars planted are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Nebbiolo. The soils are Clovelly and Griffon and offer good drainage, which is most welcome, especially when rain shows itself in summer. The wines reflect the cool slopes upon which the cultivars are planted and the nuances that these wines have lean to an Old World style. The uniqueness of this terroir can be tasted in the glass – crisp, fresh, elegant, with a keen minerality.

A courier charge of R160 per order is applicable, unless collecting from Abingdon (free of charge).

Abingdon will always endeavour to pack the wines as safely as possible and every bottle will be couriered with bubble wrap and extra support, however, we cannot take responsibility for breakages due to courier mishandling. Should you wish to use a different courier with glass breakage insurance, please email us directly.

    Despite a recent surge in popularity, this spritzy sparkler dates back to pre-Champagne. Pet-Nat, petillant naturel, or methode ancestrale are sparkling wines made using an ancient technique of only one fermentation and bottled before the fermentation is complete. A risky technique resulting in a traditionally cloudy, unfiltered wine with less pressure than modern Champagne.

    And like hipsters & their telltale beards, you can spot a Pet-Nat by it’s crown cap in lieu of a cork.
